What's your favorite chapter?

>> No.7875909

Chapter 5, when Oedipa wanders through the night. One of my favorite passages in any book.

>> No.7876092

I enjoyed the one where she went to see the Courier's Tragedy play

I liked when that one character smoked weed and was paranoid.

Courier's Tragedy

Loved the general ambiance of that passage.

So let's say they make it into a film, who would you pick to direct? I think the scene with the old guy and Oedipa watching the movie together should be done by a joint director, I got a Wes Anderson vibe from the film with the dog in the sub.

Also this.

>> No.7876220

The play was the worst part. Eat shit.

Chapter 3 I think ... The one about the play

Jim Jarmusch, without question. Same mix of cheeky humor and existential mystery.

Doesn't seem like Oedipa to me. She's a tightly wound housewife and too old to be a hippie. She also never dances in the book.

I always figured that was one of The Paranoids' girls on the cover.

The play is brilliant. I've even considered writing a full length version of it based off the events described in the text. I planned it out, anyhow.

really liked the Maxwell's Demon part as one of the in-allegories famelies

The play.

where she meets metzger at the hotel and watches the baby igor film with him

>> No.7879234

>>7876946
Fuck off he's right. There was no need to stretch that out to over ten pages. It was boring, pointless, and self indulgent.

>> No.7879246

when was the anniversary? the 50th was last year

>> No.7879492

>>7876946
Nah mate the unresolved tangeants aid the mystery and paranoid atmosphere.

The play however did not. It indulged (as >>7879234 also suggests) a
minor "coincidental" detail over ten pages whereas others were, as you said, left unsolved.

I get she'd remember it but not enough for ten pages and i seem to remember (though i may be wrong) certain aspects or plot points going over her head.

Best.

2nd best.

Don't forget the Peter Pinguid society and the free will religion that everyone quits. Oh and the gasoline guy who started Inamorato Anonymous because love is an addiction.
