Why are Marxists always so fucking fat? And why do they feel the need to shoehorn marxism in to every aspect of intellectual discourse?

I really dont think the marxist """critical lens""" is a useful or relevant branch of literary criticism

It is not useful at all, the thing is that they see everything through a Marxist lens because it is an all-encompassing belief system.

Marxist criticism is a great way to further understand a work, you don't have to be a communist to get something from it. There's nothing wrong with looking at a work from a different perspective. That sort of thing encourages discussion and ultimately a greater understanding of a work.

I have never in my life read a worthwhile piece of marxist criticism. It is either a bland examination of the explicit themes of the work interspersed with some quotes from le beard man or it is superfluous wanky bullshit.

I'm just saying that we shouldn't discourage people from looking at literature in a different critical lens. That sort of thinking kills our ability to further understand a work beyond what's already been dissected. We should never discourage discussion.

look I know you voted for obama & there is a fondue fountain of gooey love in your heart but sometimes people saying stupid things can be bad, because it takes attention from people saying important things. in a mortal life, a pointless discussion is a slow death

Wut?

>I really dont think the marxist """critical lens""" is a useful or relevant branch of literary criticism

Oh, of course not, I've never met anyone who takes 'Marxist' literary analysis seriously, as it's both irrelevant to Marx's goals and to the art of literature. Anyone who takes either seriously is naturally going to be indifferent to it.

Yeah it's like the person who wrote it is a Western convert who knows nothing about Islamic law and the economies under Sharia. The interest and debt based banking systems that began in the West and dominant today are basically antithetical to Islamic banking. The market and money exchange that Westerners participate in is not Islamic; and the national oil companies in Islamic states are only the exception that proves the rule. Without the oil industry the Middle-Eastern theocratic states could not exist as they do today.
