Tablets are NOT good for reading books. Do not be deceived, after a few minutes of straining your eyes you will decide that you don't like reading.
If you want to read, don't do it on an LCD. The only acceptable alternative is eBook readers but if you can get your hands on a real book, get a real book. That or audiobooks

Good thinking, OP. I suggest this, it's light and fun and will really suck you in, but makes you think at the same time, but not in like a boring way.
