Why did nobody tell me that Heinlein is like Ayn Rand but scifi?

Who's supposed to tell you? You're friends? Oh wait.

/lit/ could've?

Seriously, The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress was nice except it randomly stopped the plot to explain all the benefits of anarchism

Because he's not.

This should have been a troll thread.

Hey, I did say the last book I read was nice. And - seriously hoping not to incite a flamewar over my next sentence but I'm sure I will - I don't entirely disagree. Just, I prefer to get my political theorizing from real sources rather than author strawmen.

Ayn Rand is banned from /lit/.

TG occasionally discusses her. Or rather 'Andrew Ryan' from Bioshock.

Pic related; this is TG.

Heinlein's probably next. He always writes with libertarian strawmen.

Then the thought police will ban any discussion of "subversive" books like 1984. For a safe, secure /lit/ community - free from disagreement and argument!

And then - shit, brb, black helicopter

Andrew Ryan - Ayn Rand = rew

>> No.758530

Nah, Heinlein will always be welcome here. He's just an author. Maybe his politics and opinions get preachy at times, but he never writes purely for them. At least in my opinion.

And the people in the black chopper just want to ask you a few questions about last night.

Half the genre is like Ayn Rand but scifi.

You don't fall for pesky "reading the thread" thing either.

One of the main characters in Harsh Mistress actually compared himself to a Randian halfway through the book.
