Where do I start with William Faulkner?

>> No.7547858

his collected short stories
I tried to read all his novels chronologically, easily reading his early work but immediately drowning with Flags in the Dust the second Yoknapatawpha emerged. Shit just gets so cryptic.

I did The Sound and the Fury, As I Lat Dying, Absalom, Absalom!, Light in August, Go Down, Moses

I would say do Light in August, As I Lay Dying, The Sound and the Fury, then, Faulkner's masterpiece, Absalom, Absalom!

Second this. You could switch LiA and AILD, though, and read some of his short stories in between. I think, in general, the consensus is just to read those four, arguably his best novels, and not start with Sound and Fury, much less Absalom!
Go Down, Moses is GOAT as well, OP. You should give that a shot too.

Don't.

Ha. Just kidding. Read Faulkner.
