I liked this read. Mostly because it was a refreshing perspective given the masses of metrosexual limp-wristed writers on the internet who flounder at describing what being a man is.

His main point was the dichotomy between "being a good man" and "being good at being a man". It's harder to define being a good man, given that the Romans had a vastly different ideal than a HuffPo writer who gets fucked with a strapon. "Being good at being a man" is easier to define. It is essentially taking risks, caring about the perception of peers, and maintaining the skills and strength to be effective in your endeavors. Essentially, most taliban fighters and thugs in detroit are "good at being a man". An enlightened ascetic monk who spends his time doing charitable works, avoids stepping on bugs, and rejects procreation is not so good at being a man, but perhaps is a good man.
