Has anyone else noticed the creeping use of the spelling "thru" for the word "through"?

I'm not talking about teenagers and their text messages, but professional organizations and individuals, spelling it this way as though they think it is actually spelled this way

also, inb4 any spelling mistakes I made

God, I can't stand it. "Nite's" making it up there too.
But I do get more annoyed when people exchange "then" and "than"

I don't mind "thru" at all.

I used to spell it thrue. Thanks for telling me.

Agreed OP, I hate "thru". I also hate "nite" and "lite" too, wtf.

>> No.752681

you normally see it on signs where through wouldn't fit, or the customers wouldn't understand a word with so many letters. i've seen it on pretty much every fastfood arrow

I really fucking hate people using addicting instead of addictive. I mean what the hell America, your just going to make transitive verbs out of fucking nothing and use them inappropriately and in a ridiculously awkward fashion.

And thru's been happening for ages but its never taken a massive foot-hold in "proper" use. It is merely an abbreviation useful for signage and shit.

>> No.752691

I hate all of these but the three I hate the most are prolly, whinny and loose instead of lose.

Yeah those are annoying. The best corruption though is aks, insteads of ask. It's like people have a subconscious need for a stronger sound in single syllable words or something.

Or they're just retarded.

You should really proofread your arguments before making a grammatical post.

For fucks sake, I read that as "you're" in my head when I read through it and I even used it properly here >>752698

Screw useless spell checkers - I need one for homophones.
