I can't be the only one who buys books faster than you can read them. Post your book backlog!

Not even close to being my entire "to read" pile, but more accurately my "to read before spring" pile. Doubt I'll clear that mark.

I usually get kindle versions of fiction because I read them once and usually never again. Non-fiction stuff I like to keep hard copies of to easily go back to and reference or re-read chapters.

I assume it's a flawed Žižek reference that was written with German words instead of Slovenian-accented English out of ignorance. I could be wrong though.
It means, in short, that those books are pure ideology.

Haven't touched that book yet but I thoroughly enjoyed The Blank Slate, How the Mind Works, The Better Angels of Our Nature and The Language Instinct.

You must have a nice library. My city's library rarely carries the books I'm looking for.

>> No.7509512

I intend on reading Hamilton's Mythology and Campbell's The Power of Myth before the new year. And when the year starts I'll dig into Don Quixote (reading it in spanish is my big goal for next year) and I'll also read some comfy fantasy stuff like The Once and Future King and LotR.

I've got about 300 books on my 'to read' list.

But soon I'll read 'The Peloponessian War' by Kagan (I've already read Thucydides'); after 'Theaetetus' I'll read 'Sophist'; after Kagan's I'll read 'Storm of Steel' by Junger.

Well, if you're really keen on a biography of Stalin, I would read Stalin by Robert Service. I've read both and Kotkin seems extremely partial to the Soviet Union and essentially sucks Stalin's dick to the point where it interfere's with objective truth about his history.
