You´re right, but the difference between Reddit and Co. is that we only do it for fun. We know we are pseudointellectual phillistines and inferior human scum, doomed forever.
Let us have our fun, it´s the only thing we´ve got.

To be fair, not EVERYONE does it for fun any more, not even on 4chan.

That was the great downfall of the internet, by the way. Remember when "The internet is serious business" used to be a joke? We'd say it in jest and have a good laugh. Now the internet really IS serious business, and it's fucking awful. Too many people allow their lives to be ruined by what happens online. Too many people let what happens on the tubes affect them IRL.

We tend to find places where we can be closer to our true selves, bask in its beauty for a time, and leave when the shit people follow. Which, I think, not sure, is because we were always meant to move around. No one's ever been stoked on stability, just on risk. The goal isn't to reach the goal, it's to never see a goal but constantly have enough power to curb stomp yourself from yesterday. If not moving forward by continuing on a project, by moving outward by finding something new.

So that means it's time to move on from the internet, which either means to head in deeper, to go back to the life everyone else left for the internet, or find something outside of the two. Tread new ground, or ground so old that you can barely see the footprints anymore.
