Reading the introduction after reading the book is like talking to an intelligent friend who read the book, studied it, and has a lot to say about it. It's the perfect approach.

>Introduction/Prologue/Preface is far more difficult, convoluted, and less understandable than novel

I remember in Lit 1101 having to read The Scarlet Letter for the first time, and putting down the book after the intro and being like "fuck, this is harder than I thought." Then, chapter one begins, and it's like an entirely different write - it becomes easy to read and understand, and totally drops the tone of the intro.
