How do I know if the author of what I read is sincere?

How do I know if I am sincere in reading it?

To the first, their was no implication otherwise before post-modernism other than satire, outright lies, or that which was meant to persuade. All of which, I think, would still fall under your umbrella of 'sincere'.

I think your problem is the notion of insincerity, not sincerity. If a thing is done, do it simply, without recourse, without want. Think, as you must, but a priori accept that the thing is identitive of itself. deconstructionism forgets this.
