If you only read for pussy points, yes. If not, read the authors that inspired Pynchon, namely, Gaddis and Hawkes. I also recommend reading Lowry, whose style is, more or less, similar to Pynchon's.

Lowry and Pynchon are similar in style...? I didn't find this at all and I've read Under the Volcano and The Forest Path to the Spring by Lowry and TCOL49 and V. by Pynchon.

They aren't, of course, identical, but their word use and the ways they structure their sentences seem similar to me. Don't take as a fact, I guess; rather, a suspicion. I'm nowhere near an expert on either of them, after all.
