It depends who I'm set out to kill, how sure I am that I might get away with it, and on how much money we are talking about.

If they put like, a classy old painting on the front, then people will think it's too old and boring. If it's like, something tasteful and minimalistic, then people will think it's unremarkable.

They have to make it look like a dumb movie poster so it'll remind people of the pleb shit they experience in other mediums.

I'm also interested in this.

To me it seems like all the books are complete garbage, but publishers select some while discarding others.
It can't all be random, there has to be some system that determines which books are best at appealing to their target audience.

How can I write a book that's good at pushing a teenage girl's buttons?
How do I get it published?

>> No.7397880

>>7397753
You can't. Just as good satire comes from a deep love and respect for the source material, published YA comes from a place of sincerity which you will never be able to tap. If you try, people will be able to see your disdain for the genre, and you will not get published.

>there has to be some system that determines which books are best at appealing to their target audience.

There is. They ask themselves, "Does this look like it may be adapted into a hit movie or tv series?"

Watch trashy tv shows the kids like, notice all the cliches they use, the character archetypes and sarcastic comedy + melodrama tone they have, and just write your book as a script version of that imagined tv show.
