Most users here on /lit/ don't respond too well to these threads. Want to know why?

Because they all read the same shit ;)

No, we read books regardless of covers.

We don't judge books by their covers, thank you.

That being said, I like this cover for 1984. It isn't official (it was just made by a fan), but I think it suits the book pretty well.

The thread never said "Post books with gorgeous covers. Oh, and also they must be the only books that you read due to said cover"

Just sayin'

It's full of Soviet posters and photos (including Great Purge-era mugshots) up to about 1950.

Why is an appreciation for a book's contents and the physical book itself contradictory? There are usually many editions to choose from - why not pick the most pleasing?

Far too much brown. If there's anything that a totalitarian Britain has it is white and grey, right down to the overcast sky and deteriorating concrete. I enjoy the rat motif though.

Now my contribution is of course a set of Bond novels that I would die for if I didn't already have a decent set of Pan paperbacks I scored for $20 AUD off Ebay. Just stunning.

If we're talking my Pans than they were used. These awesome Penguins you can probably only get new.
