About fifty pages into Inherent Vice, and I am shocked at how funny, and how much of a pageturner it is. I haven't enjoyed a book as much, or gotten through one as fast since A Confederacy of Dunces.

>TCoL49 -> Torquato Tasso
>Inherent Vice -> Pet Sounds backwards

do you guys think his other stuff has "answers" too? i doubt Gravity's Rainbow has one

V. on the other hand...

Alright I'm finally going to begin Pynchon today.

Is V. a good place to start? Will it be fun?

V. is the best place to start.

And yes, it's real fuckin' fun.

sorry to ruin their fun, but pynchon is a meme author. we have some dedicated trolls, but nobody here actually thinks his books are good.

I loved it. People slight it but I think it's only because it seems normal.

Bleeding Edge wasn't as much of a page turner though, but I want to reread it.

Anyone here doing the Gravity's Rainbow group read? We're getting close to the end date, but I don't think many of us have stuck with it. I'm only at ~500. Should I bother posting a new thread?

Post it, I'm nearly at the end.

Check the archive. A few days ago or so some anon posted that the plot for Inherent Vice is actually Pet Sounds backwards. Checking the text and the lyric sheet for Pet Sounds, it holds up.
