Help me out, /lit/, I think I'm going crazy.

I have a distinct memory of being in B&N a few years ago and seeing a book by Zizek called "The Obscene Machine". I remember it perfectly, even remarked to my friend about what a funny title it was.
However, now that I'm reminded of it, according to Wikipedia he's never published a book with such a title. Have I gone made?

This will sound crazy but it's a phenomenon a lot of people are experiencing lately. /x/ references to it a lot. For instance, look at this Volvo logo. It's a male sign. Now many people who owned Volvos and even worked at Volvo swear it was just a circle before. Suddenly it becomes a male sign. It's some quantum phenomenon connected to parallel universes. Psychologists will explain it to you as a mental quirk an error of judgement or memory but what if you just came from a parallel universe and joined into our own? For some reason this is happening more and more. Welcome to our universe.

It definitely is in this Zizek quote, but the book's title is The Parallax View

It just means you're from THIS universe.
Most people will remember it like that.
Some came from the parallel where it's a circle.

Why do you need to come up with the goofiest answer possible when a much simpler, much more realistic solution is so obvious?

People don't pay fucking attention. They glance at something and rely on their brains to fill in the precise details. The more often you interact with something, the truer this is, as your brain automates regular stimuli. Those chucklefucks at Volvo? They glanced at the logo on the first day, probably while they were trying to learn the ropes and not fuck up in front of their new boss, and their brain went: "Yep circle." Then forever afterwards whenever they saw the logo zooming by on a car, or in their peripheral vision on the showroom floor, or on the letterhead of some asinine company memo, their brain filled in the detail and went: "Yep circle."

Every day on the way to work I drove past a McDonald's with a red roof. I never studied the building, because I was driving, but I passed it and logged it somewhere as: "The McDonald's with the red roof." A few months later I was in a traffic jam, and I noticed that the roof was actually green. I asked a mate, 'nope, always green.' I didn't travel into some parallel universe where everything is the same except that one McDonalds building had a green roof, I simply never paid adequate attention to it before and my brain painted it red (probably because red as a colour is associate with the company.)

For this effect in action, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ahg6qcgoay4
