What does /lit/ think of Foucault? I've seen Nietzsche and postmodernism discussed here , but never Foucault. Do you guys just thinks he's a hack, or do you like his work?

I enjoy it but I hate everyone else who like Foucault

Been on /lit/ for years and never once seen him mentioned. Finally.

fun fact: I spent a summer living in a house where he lived in the seventies, and according to house legend, he used to masturbate in the living room and smoke weed in the kitchen.

He's a hack, just like all French philosophers after Tocqueville

maybe you will be visited by the ghost of foucault's sperm if you lay on the floor and masturbate with your mouth open

This is how I feel about him, and it seems to be the general consensus here. All of us pretty much hate each other, I guess.
Why do so many people hear about his conception of knowledge as a product of power relations and immediately jump to the most idiot conclusions you can derive from it?
>lel that isn't knowledge, it's just a product of power relations :^)
>lel that isn't true, it's just a product of power relations :^)
>lel science, logic, ethics, and everything else is bullshit, it's just a product of power relations :^)
For fuck's sake, people. Read the guy, at least.

He's discussed all the time.

He was into thinking for the celebrity it brought with it in 20th century France, but he actually did have more coherent ideas that he expressed in better forms than, for example, Lacan.

I read he did this kind of thing all the time while he was dying, purposefully spreading AIDS to anyone he could out of sheer rage.

Well-educated, but utterly depraved man.

apparently he was jacking off to a rolling stones music video, when he was in the house. all in all it's a cool house, you should look into it if you're interested in studying at cornell http://www.tellurideassociation.org/
