Just finished reading Zola's "The Masterpiece" and I fucking loved it.

What other books out there are like it, in terms of subject? I'm looking for more good narratives about artists (Not just painters but also sculptors and writers and musicians and etc.) and their struggles with the artistic process.

Would you say it's a masterpiece?

No, Zola's "Germinal" is his materpiece

The Masterpiece is a fun read considering how it's partly based on Paul Gauguin, the sperg master.

Op, read Boredom (Moravia) and Borges' Circular Ruins.

Many of Stephen's Kings books are about writers who are in the middle of creative troubles.

That said, it's often because monsters are chasing them, but still.

Writers writing about writers writing is one of the most boring things I can think about.

What? It's a crock of shit.

It fucking has the phrase "but then" in the first fucking sentence.

Anons bitching about writers writing about writers writing seems infinitely more boring.
