Tried to get into it because I loved Problem Sleuth. I gave up pretty quickly, though- didn't seem nearly as funny.

Excellently written. Shame the author doesn't know how to end a story.

It's pretty much what got me into reading and writing. It's all over the place but that is kind of the fun, closest thing I've read are Grabity's Rainbow and the Legacy of Totalitarianism in a Tundra; and it's also longer than War and Peace.

>>7221889
The general was banned years ago, sadly.

>> No.7222081

I think it's kind of dumb, honestly. I don't see what the point of it is, or why anyone would find it interesting.

>closest thing I've read are...the Legacy of Totalitarianism in a Tundra
could definitely believe this

Acts 1-4 are fantastic, though would benefit from editing. The nature of the comic makes them drag a bit. Beyond that, Hussie's formal experimentations are the only thing of note.

>> No.7222330

I like it. It's not good by any means, but it contains a lot of experimentation and sometimes it works pretty good. Let alone it's the only work I've seen taking videogames as a topic succesfully.
Sadly, it drags a lot and should have ended a long time ago. Waiting so long for something kills it. Also, Act 6 was a mistake.

you can tell that the guy is super intellegent but pbs makes him report on god awful garbage

Pros
> Experimental
> Plays around with new mediums
> Strong characterisation

Cons
> Author blatantly had no idea where he was going with it
> It's excessively long
> Its fans are annoying
> It drags on beyond belief

It isn't the Ulysses of the internet, its more like the Calvin and Hobbes of the internet

>> No.7222589

I've never read or watched this thing but from talking to people online I can merely tell that it's fans are obsessive.
Anyone care to summarise it for me briefly, pretty please?

Kids play a videogame that turns out to be the universe's reproductive system; their game session is intertwined with five other sessions and their respective universes through a series of stable time paradoxes, which result in the player of one of those sessions preying on their universes as an indestructible demon kingpin.

You just got spoiled a whole lot.

That kinda sounds like Harlan Ellison for kids. Thanks for the summary

It is a story based heavily on internet culture, the idea that friends on the internet may never meet and communicate only through chat systems, ala IRC or Skype. There's lots of plays on words, uses of the internet as a medium for storytelling, things that seem irrelevant but turn out to be pretty important, and lots of the modern brand of irony you see around 4chan these days. It's interesting, despite its (great deal of) flaws.

If you wanted to read it, consider the fact that it's been going on for seven years and has been written for a current active audience, not especially for archival readers. That isn't to say archival reading is inferior, it's simply different from seeing certain pages change.

That's just the overall plot though. It's missing the metatextual humor, the multy media format, the characterization, the world building. It's much like saying Ulysses is about one dude's day in Dublin.

I give the guy props for picking a direction Of his own and staying with it. Offhand, I can't think of another webcomic like it. Isn't it like 9000 pages by now? Not everything has to be patrician.
