What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little weeb? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the English language and Philosophy, and I’ve been involved in numerous reviews on Goodreads, and I have over 300 read classics. I am trained in literary critique and I’m the top mind in the entire US school of parroting Nabokov. You are nothing to me but just another pleb. I will wipe you the fuck out with patricianhood the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of continental philosophy obsessed teenagersand your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, casual. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your taste. You’re fucking pleb, kid. I can write anywhere, anytime, and I can imitate Joyce in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in modernism, but I have access to the entire magnum opus of James Joyce, Thomas Pynchon and Vladimir Nabokov and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the literature board, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it.

For a board of hikki NEETs who supposedly like reading, you guys really don't read a lot.

what would you define as 'reading a lot?'

Damn it I don't remember all of the titles of the books I've read /lit/. I've been logging things into goodreads for a few hours now and now its all blurring together.

I don't think everyone on here is a Goodreads member. I'm not.

IDK, I guess I kind of expected more people to be in the thousands or high 3 digits at least, but it seems the vast majority of the profiles are clustering around the 100 - 300 range, which doesn't seem like "a lot" to me.

I'm sure, and I'm sure there are people who don't update their Goodreads profile diligently (I know I don't), but you'd think that of the people with a Goodreads there'd be more people who read "a lot" as I said here >>7204015

I'm in the four digit range but I'm still not satisfied with the amount of books I've read, I'd like to read more.

>> No.7204043

>>7204015
depends if you only add what you have read since starting on goodreads. let's assume 30–100 books a year, that gets most people to the 100–300 range.

Is it common for people to exclude stuff they read before they go ton Goodreads/Goodreads existed? I'd guess that's very rare?

I've read about 100 in the past two years, reaching 50 this year. And I think that's plenty, I expect to be over 300 in the next year. I don't feel like I've read almost even close to what I want, but I do consider myself to be well read.

why the fuck would you ever read that much? the idea of having a library of books is for YA booktubers who color-code their shelves. Why not read 200 books you love and re-read them all the time so as to know them REALLY well?

fine, go ahead and buy six hundred books you won't read or remember. if i gave you 24 hours could you even make a list of six hundred authors that you would be interested in?

Easily.

And just because you have the memory capacity of a goldfish doesn't mean non-retarded people can't remember six hundred books.

i personally only add stuff since i started using it as it's a handy way to record what i read when. there's no point for me just filling it up with all the stuff i read previously. i guess unless i want to impress /lit/. maybe i should go through all the classics clicking 'read' without adding date because fuck if i know

>> No.7205155

>>7204015
Well, it's not like anyone goes through and adds every book they've ever read

for most people it's almost exclusively recently read stuff, and literary fiction. most of the board being in their early twenties they've probably only been into this kind of stuff for maybe half a decade

t-that's what I did. I only rate stuff I've read while on goodreads but I added most of the books I've read since late highschool.
