I've only been reading classics for the last two years or so. I'm going to read Infinite Jest soon (have it sitting on my desk).

I took a break to read the first book in A Series Of Unfortunate Events, it was fun being able to plow through the simplistic and extremely concise prose. Are there any YA or even Children's Series that would hold up reading them as an adult?

Gotta include THE GOAT Children's series. Reading this as a kid was so cash, pic related, the best in the series.

I always did like the Darren Shan books.

Series just got kind of wonky after Lake of Souls, though. Felt like it lost its touch.

Oh hell yes. Order of the Phoenix all day every day, I think I read that thing twenty times.

Darren shan was pretty interesting, something that reminded me of it were the chronicles of nick, by kenyon

Ever read The Demonata?

>> No.7177414

I want to go full retard and read a YA series. Just gobble up the 3-13 books in the series like a little nerd, but there are too many to choose from.

I saw this series at B&N because the cover caught my eye, are these any good?

>> No.7177494

Read Demonata or Saga of Darren Shan.

Both are horror and tragedy oriented, but Saga has a bit more comedy while Demonata is far more brutal.

>> No.7177511

The Monstrumologist series is pretty great.

Victorian-era monster "hunting," mostly set in America. Lots of tense and deadly situations, damn decent prose, and some seriously upper-tier gore.

>> No.7177515

>>7177511
Im not sure about gore but some of the best action scenes in read were from the eragon series.

Oh shit I always meant to finish this

Yeah the series got wack near the end. But nothing beats YA literature for me than the first two Darren Shan trilogies. I fucking loved that shit too much, especially when Darren becomes a Vampire Prince.

Eragon was garbage though.
