I didn't think /lit/ was big enough for anyone to bother raiding. Or is it just babby's first troll training ground?

The mood change tbh. The first four books are overall charming and comfy. After that she went for that #dark and #brooding atmosphere which I thought it was p bad

Stephen King syndrome. Increasing Bloat with every sequel.

Nothing, they're perfectly fine YA fiction.

Okay, maybe the ending was a bit shit.

She started to read Harry Potter fanfiction when she didn't even know what it was before. I'm pretty sure I came across an interview where she described the night she discovered it and just spent hours going through all the shit.

>> No.7174182

It's good YA fiction but it's a bit too bloated. Chamber of secrets was a rehash of the 1st book and could have been cut. Order of the Phoenix didn't need to be 900 pages all that happens is Serius dies and Luna and Beletrix are introduced.

>> No.7174207

>>7174182
Seriously agree with Order of the Phoenix. It's the only Potter book i can't remember anything from

>> No.7175479

Rowling's magic world has no place for the numinous. It is written for people whose imaginative lives are confined to TV cartoons, and the exaggerated (more exciting, not threatening) mirror-worlds of soaps, reality TV and celebrity gossip.

Its values, and everything in it, are, as Gatsby said of his own world when the light had gone out of his dream, ''only personal.'' Nobody is trying to save or destroy anything beyond Harry Potter and his friends and family.

i have always enjoyed the HPB and felt like it had a comfy feeling despite the battle and loss of dumbledore at the end obviously.
i mean in terms of school stuff and rowling's description of the grounds near herbology greenhouses etc.

Resurrection as a major plot point only works if the author is really good.

I think of the King's Cross station bit as a lucid dream and less of a resurrection. It was symbolic for Voldemort killing off the horcrux/evil in harry/child of tom riddle
