Hi /lit/ can anyone recommend books on how to not give a fuck, and do what you want? Or any books on how to get rid of anxiety and fear?

Maybe some deep philosophies or something? I just feel like I am not confident about my outlook on things, and I'm not sure why.

I feel like I am in a constant state of worrying about my future, being anxious of my surroundings, but in my mind trying to make myself a better person, but something is holding me back.

I feel like I should avoid taking anxiety meds, since it will just suppress it

I want to get to the root of what is causing my anxiety, but don't know how

Also what's wrong with the ride the tiger book? does it suck or something

no, it's esoteric traditionalist right stuff that, while isn't bad, shouldn't be read by a complete idiot. read normal things first

ok cool, do you have any recommendations for a complete idiot?

I tried reading stirner a while ago, but couldn't really apply it to my life. that's what I get for trying to read a meme

I'd suggest reading any old psyc or econ textbook tbh

Anxiety is a function of expectation, and every time you try to predict or control the future it will inevitably crop up. Especially when your expectation is tied to a strong desire. You can spend years reading Buddha, Epictetus, Epicurus, Nietzsche, the Bible, and at the end you'll be left with a bunch different expectations, each leading to certain fears, sufferings and joys. Bet big, fear big, win/lose big; bet little, fear little, win little

Tldr be wary of your expectations

kierkegaard is good on this

"Marry, and you will regret it; don't marry, you will also regret it; marry or don't marry, you will regret it either way. Laugh at the world's foolishness, you will regret it; weep over it, you will regret that too... Hang yourself, you will regret it; do not hang yourself, and you will regret that too; hang yourself or don't hang yourself, you'll regret it either way; whether you hang yourself or do not hang yourself, you will regret both. This, gentlemen, is the essence of all philosophy."

The future is uncertain and there is no changing that. Do what everyone since the beginning of conscious thought has done and find a way to cope with it

My personal recommendation is epicurean philosophy

Don't listen to the drugged up brigade. Big pharma has no incentive in curing anything. Take them only if you feel you have to and for the shortest time possible.

This - read somewhere that drugs to treat mild mental health are being blamed for the rise of serious mental health issues.
