I need to write a poem for my university class, but i don't ever read poetry.

read donne, he's written the most beautiful english poetry so far so there's a lot to learn from the guy
then read yeats to learn how to write economically, to pack a lot of meaning into small packages
then read john ashbery to learn how to write patrician contemporary poetry without emulating archaic styles like every other fedora who tries to write deep/sophisticated verse
