Can anybody think of a novel in which different chapters are written in noticeably different tones / styles due to the protagonist involved?

I'm writing something right now with two contrasting protagonists, and writing it in the tone that would reinforce the effect of one character turns the other into a sort of side-kick. I'm hoping to write something that is both funny and sad, without going halfway with each and having no real effect either way. DFW's Pale King is one example I think of.
