"How do characters in both Hamlet by William Shakespeare and 1984 by George Orwell find purpose and meaning in their lives as they deal with personal sufferings?"

I have an essay on that question up there due in a couple hours, I'm new to /lit/ and I was wondering if you could help a guy out?

I read 1984 and loved it, but Hamlet was boring, I couldn't go on by act 3.

I haven't read Hamlet, either. But the characters in 1984 find meaning and purpose by falling in love, quietly rebelling against the rules, fantasizing, et cetera.

In 1984 the main character finds purpose by trying to break free of his society's restrictive bonds and is constantly tortured by thoughts of his impending doom since he feels he will likely be caught, and eventually is.

In Hamlet, my memory is fuzzy as fuck since I didn't like the story much, Hamlet got into a hissy fit and killed some people to get ahead in the court or something like that. Thinking about it I don't remember much of anything about Hamlet.

Since you're supposed to write about both at the same time I'm guessing that Hamlet is basically killing off a part of himself as he goes about trying to get ahead with the odd conspiracies only to be found out the same as the character in 1984 which essentially leads to their deaths.
