this tbh

I liked the idea, childhood segments were enjoyable, but the characters were so one dimensional I began thinking, "nobody is really like this... these are like all the different facets of one person" and it clicked that this was probably the intention

then the ending kind of says it
so that's it?

these fragments of personality are too fractured across characters to form a compelling whole, and too simplistic to be interesting characters on their own

ill have to try some other woolf. this was like a bad faulkner. well written but msotly sort of shit imo

Can't tell if memes have transcended irony with younger generation, or if they're earnestly embedded within language, tbh.

Are you going to tell us what you thought? Or does your opinion not exceed hollow one-line statements? Because in that case it would be easy to figure out why you didn't like it.

It wasn't realistic enough so I thought it was fucking stupid. *sigh* I really thought I'd found a female with a half a brain.

It was fantastic. It can be read at a very simple level, which fools people into thinking they get it, when in reality Woolf writes at a level that's beyond the comprehension of most /lit/ shitposters.

Sorry you didn't like it OP, have you tried Woolf's other stuff or did you jump straight into Waves?

Women can't write. I'm glad the /r9k/ contingent on here agree with me.

I have read To the lighthouse by Woolf. The side characters in that book were kinda shallow too. She just takes one feature of the character and keeps revisiting it and builds the character around it. The main character, the mother of the house was one of the best portrayed characters. It gets kinda arcane, but there is good imagery and writing in her writing in that book.

You'd have thought they would like Woolf?

>there is good writing... in her writing
Is that what reading women does to you?

>>7129908
Perceived all so as well.
