'Colo(u)r' is invented by post modern academics who want to degrade white people by claiming that white =/= the combination of the whole visible light spectrum for humans but is instead an absolute emptiness; it is all the non-whites who therefore possess actual substance

Edna Behn was the first person to notice that colours differentiated between objects, and came up with the names of the colours which we now take for granted. She named several of them: Orange after the oranges that grow on trees, Blue after blueberries, Green as a corruption of "grain", Red after red-lobsters, Yellow after yellow-bellies, and finally Black after their slave, Black Bettie.

Not sure, but some colors can be traces to linguistic roots.

Orange came from Sanskrit.

>Naranga (orange tree) - > Narang -> Naranj -> Auranja/Norenge -> Orenge -> Orange

White came from PIE language also includes Sanskrit

>"kWid" -> Xwitaz (old common geman)/sveta(sanskrit) -> hwit (old english) -> white

Also related to black.

Black came from the concept of brightness.

>bhel (to shine) -> bhelg (to burn/shine) -> blakkaz (burned) -> blaec (dark) -> black

Related words include (blank/flagrance)

Blanc = white in french.
