What's the best advice you've ever got from a self-help book?

I'll start:
>"Have you somewhat to do tomorrow, do it today"
>"Get what you can, and what you get hold"
>"Early to bed, and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise"

- The Way to Wealth, Benjamin Franklin

no book, but a poem
>pic related
it really helped me to get "alpha", meaning doing what i think is right, not giving a fuck about other's opinions. there is also a "motivation pic" saying "why does the lion care what the sheeps have to say", and i couldnt really identify with this.
but the poem to the left is just great. never disappoint yourself, do what you think is right to do, dont make yourself unhappy because of others

if you want to go full edge:

>(T)he problem with the other origin of the “good,” of the good man, as the person of ressentiment has thought it out for himself, demands some conclusion. It is not surprising that the lambs should bear a grudge against the great birds of prey, but that is no reason for blaming the great birds of prey for taking the little lambs. And when the lambs say among themselves, "These birds of prey are evil, and he who least resembles a bird of prey, who is rather its opposite, a lamb,—should he not be good?" then there is nothing to carp with in this ideal's establishment, though the birds of prey may regard it a little mockingly, and maybe say to themselves, "We bear no grudge against them, these good lambs, we even love them: nothing is tastier than a tender lamb."
Friedrich Nietzsche, On the Genealogy of Morality

It takes a while to adjust and it helps if you sufficiently tire yourself out during the day. As Freddy said:

"Sleeping is no mean art: for its sake one must stay awake all day."

nietzsche on selfishness would be more relevant to that poem. this bit is about the relationship between power and morality. safe to say whoever posted the poem doesn't have much power, let alone enough to make him a bird of prey among lambs

there's also a similar delusion where op said "why does lion care what the sheeps have to say." there's no reason except self-flattery to imagine you are the lion. it also doesn't make sense, the saying would have more power if it was a sheep among other sheep.

24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

As long as the hypocrisy is not present in his works but only found in the discrepancy between his works and his life, then his works can not be dismissed for that reason.

After all, you don't dismiss a study on lung cancer because the researcher smokes either.

>24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
I literally just popped into this board to ask if what kind of philosophies were along the lines of "All passions are at conflict with each other. A body cannot hold more than one without being at war with itself."
