I'm looking to get an ereader. Can anyone recommend me a good one? I don't need too many features. PDF support is a must as the majority of my books are in PDF format. DJVU would be nice as well. I don't want to have to deal with any sort of DRM software. I'm just tired of staring at my computer monitor all day and would like to do some reading away from distractions.

Buy the paper. Kill the trees. We can't fight them anymore.

I'm hoping the ASUS DR-900/950 has a release date announced soon...it sounds perfect for what I need, but I'm getting itchy to buy and sick of waiting for this.

lol, you read books on your computer?

all the newest versions are pretty much identical

Kindle and Nook are the two major ones. With any ereader you can use Calibre to convert pdfs to any other format such as Epub.

better than wasting money on buying real books lol.

I use my laptop to read books so it's not as bad as a bigger monitor. But I feel ya OP, hate reading shit on my computer but I have no other option at this point.

All the books I have on my computer would cost thousands and thousands of dollars so fuck that lol

I enjoy my nook immensely. I haven't tested each one, but I'm perfectly happy with the one I got.

Hey OP, I have nook, and I have to tell you, I'm not completely satisfied with it. It does have PDF support, but the battery life is pretty abysmal and the page turning is STILL so slow. Still, I've gotten so many free and cheap books on it that it's probably paid for itself already, and it's a complete step up in terms of being able to read an ebook comfortably. Also, the best feature, which I just figured out a day ago, is that it has a slightly curved back panel, so it will fit easily into a back pocket. Also, potentially has tons of features due to the color touch screen and Android, but you don't seem to care about that all too much.

If you consider yourself a /lit/ person, you should get the kobo. Its a no nonsense, nothing fancy, basic ereader. The only functions its missing that most people will dislike is the ability to put bookmarks in(There is no system for that... You either go back to where you last stopped reading, or start over. If you want to go back to a specific page you need to navigate to it page by page) and there is no dictionary(Not too important, but common, its already a digital device thats dedicated to reading. How hard would it have been to let you reference a dictionary while reader?)

If you have the cash to burn, consider the nook. Its got the most features and potential... when you sit down to actually *READ* though, you'll see no difference from the kobo which is literally half the price.

Kindle = irrelevant unless you want the DX as the nook has more features for the same price
Sony readers = irrelevant since the gimmiky shit actually makes them bad e-readers. 5" one is similair in specs and features to the 6" kobo, while being $50 MORE! Seriously sony, get you shit together.
