What are some good books which will help you get over the fact that you are living in a secular waste land?

Or maybe you need a little context to better understand the origins of this secular wasteland.

I want to tell you to go back to /pol/, but I know that's what you want. So, without further ado...

*i unsheath a katana with the speed of lightning, the air around me turning into hellish fire*
*harnesses the raw power of the universe to find your exact place on the planet*
*bend time and space itself, and a journey that would require 4 years instead takes half a second*
*appear right in front of your house, and with a mighty slash, the gates and walls of your home dissolve like iron in acid*
*walk up to you, and, as you cower in fear, I shout: "IT'S PERSONNEL NOW!"*
*stab the floor beneath you, and, as an all consuming fire swallows you, turn around, and walk into the night*

marxists dont accept any other reason for discontent than material suffering, social oppression or opposition against "historical necessities". they are partially responsible for the wasteland that op perceives. still, anything non-materialist is for them a latent reactionary excuse. i believe OP wanted to read metaphysical viewpoints and criticisms of the dominant doctrines which contributed to shaping the last hundred years.

Why is this a bad thing? Do you really want to go back to a society where priest and government official are synonyms? I sure as hell don't.

So? Marx started out a German idealist. Now we've got Catholics giving the guy a second look. And look at these Green hippies and their back to the Earth mantras. The world will continue to be big enough for dueling philosophical bents in a post-capitalist world. We should just be rational and respectable about it.

The pic isn't very accurate, and I'm not even a serious student of philosophy.

>>7033063
This is why I suggest what I did. We can only turn the page. Subbing in nostalgia wont do any good.

ok, thx for the input

>Marx started out a German idealist
>Now we've got Catholics giving the guy a second look...
doesnt make "das kapital" and all known branches of marxism any less materialist.

>Subbing in nostalgia wont do any good.
there's more than "back or forward", typical for people thinking in terms of historical necessity.

Do you think materialism irrelevant or something?

>there's more than "back or forward"
There is only forward. Looking backward can only help to inform

>Do you think materialism irrelevant or something?
why would i think that 50% of philosophy is irrelevant?
the question is why do you think that it and only it should be relevant in this thread.
>This is why I suggest what I did. We can only turn the page.
pretty much admission that you are offtopic on purpose

and you never read nietzsche or something? or is it just faux-naif bullshit?

My suggestions aren't off topic.
