why does god allow some people to have better and easier lives than others?

why do some people get to be born into wealth while others starve to death daily? why do some people get to be born with model looks while others are born with deformities? why do some people get to live a fulfilling life while others are robbed of it and are raped and murdered?

>[...]the sense and content of that judgment of experience is simply this, that happiness as such should not have fallen to some who have got it, i.e. the judgment is an expression of envy, which covers itself up in the cloak of morality. The reason, however, why we think good luck, as we call it, should fall to the lot of others is good friendship, which ungrudgingly grants and wishes them, and wishes itself too, this favour, this accident of good fortune.

god decided that self-determination is the greatest good he could offer man, and to impugn upon that self-determination is to do great evil unto man

how can a paralyzed man do for himself? will his self determination to walk and breathe on his own magically fix the fact he cant do any of those things?

Because the Christians were wrong about the nature of the divine.

There are many gods each doing their own thing, and most of these gods are not especially virtuous.

Strange questions. Justice isn't a property of the universe, but only of man-made institutions. That would be my best shot at an answer, but really those sorts of questions don't have answers, or at least not if you're seriously asking them, because to ask them is more like an expression of despair than honest inquiry.

those are some really sophomoric rhetorical questions, can you come up with something meaningful?

>> No.7030326

think of a time when you were a child when your parents wouldn't buy you a toy or something you wanted. now you think of that memory as meaningless, you might even find it cute and funny that you cared about it at the time and realize how insignificant it really was. but at the time it was a real catastrophe, you felt awful and it was the worst thing for you. of course everyone has such experiences no matter what the particulars are.

one can only hope that the afterlife is like this. no matter what kind of suffering happened in life, the closeness with god and the understanding of existence is such that you can only look back on whatever suffering you experienced with condescending humor, since it is dwarfed by the full understanding of god's plan.

just did. you said self determination is what decides it. so, how can someone who can't physically move their body, make their life any better?

it's almost as if atheistic nihilism is an appropriate and intellectually honest view to take in light of understanding the world. Keep in mind that you, you reading this right now, along with all the people in OP's photo, will all eventually be dead, and cease to exist. This is the same as saying that you we all of us inevitably come to the same end.
