I'm not talking about the biblical criticism but of the arguments that claimed to be proof of god's existence. In the same way that Descartes uses a premise proper of the thinking of his time (that which exist beat a highest degree of perfection than that which does not exist), Anselm's and Aquinas' arguments in favor of god's existence also work within the rules of their own time.
Dawkins talk about this kind of arguments as silly, which they were rather not, and it took a long time to prove they were wrong.
