I am a noob, where do I begin with this guy?

His book on Suicide (covering his concept of anomie) is essential

>> No.7026067

his book on suicide is assigned for sociology 101 at most selective institutions

The Division of Labour in Society
The Rules of Sociological Method
Suicide
The Elementary Forms of the Religious Life

That's the essential reading.

Bear in mind that while Durkheim was important to the foundation of sociology, most of his ideas are quaint by today's standards. Functionalism has been all but completely abandoned by serious academics.

Suicide remains the most interesting, I'd say.

Any of these deal specifically with his thoughts on religion?
