sorry mate but just because you're a loser doesnt mean everyone is

the talented /lit/ posters don't post in those threads b/c they know better tbh

Oh, I am totally aware who I am. I am not projecting.

Oh, and since you are using the projection meme...you should probably....you know.

there are a lot of people pushing shit that they genuinely believe is gold in the humanities what makes you think /lit/ is any different

/lit/ is a terrible board (worse than /b/), but very rarely you can find a decent person. As for writers—no, there are no good writers on /lit/.

I write

But I don't post on /lit/ because there's nothing positive I can possibly see from posting here.
If I want critique from someone who knows me then I send my work to them.
If I want critique from someone who doesnt personally know me (for honesty reasons) I can also just send to them.
Im just here for the book discussions.

by book discussions you mean DFW, Joyce, the Greeks, John Green and Arthur Schopenhauer right? Also don't forget Nietzsche, the Greeks, and most importantly Tao Lin

these. if you post your shit on /lit/ then you either don't realize how bad you actually are or seek instant validation for writing a little story or poem, which in itself implies a lack of dedication to improving. anyone who says they post because they genuinely want feedback is only fooling themselves.

I write too

And I improvise stuff for lit. It's bc I'm overflowing with patterns and metaflora—my whole system is out of balance since the Big Blue incident off of New London a few months ago—and the worst part is realizing: this is all for fun.

why would they need to know ye?

>> No.6964823

I don't enjoy anything anyone writes anymore. By that measure, crit threads are as good as the Paris Review or Tin Cart House or whatever it is (something else nobody reads)

Yeah no doubt there's a metric fuckton of circlejerking but yeah.
>>6964760
Not saying everyone here is hyper critical but so much of the criticism is not constructive i.e. "Your work is shit because your a pleb". That's even if your work is recognized
>>6964799
Maybe once I've found a lull in my other work I'll funpost some prose to /lit/.

I'm also here for the dank maymays of course :^)

So I just finished rereading this book. It's one of his better books, but I feel like nothing will ever live up to The Siren's of Titan. That is by far the most amazing story he ever wove. I haven't read Slaughter House 5 yet, and in all honesty I don't intend to. That seems to be a reliving of his experiences of Dresden, which is great and all, but I feel Cat's Cradle and the Siren's of Titan embodies a man free of resentment that has much more wisdom he wants to impart on the world. Thoughts?

I forgot to mention that its all /mu/ & /tv/s fault too. Although the /pol/ influx in the past few years was definitely the killing blow.

This and to be honest /lit/'s vitriol killed off serious attempts at publishing of writers like ZWG, TAR and The Metric

>> No.6965459

>>6965444
What happened to TAR exactly? I wasn't here when it stopped, but I remember the threads always got a bunch of posts, so I wouldn't have thought it was lack of submissions.

/thread

Because no one else said it.

>> No.6965475

>>6965459
There was a big fall out between editors that resulted in a split between TAR and The Metric. TAR were basically dissolved after that and I think The Metric went on for a year or so?

>> No.6965510

>>6965475
I see. I can't really imagine anything worth falling out over though. Kind of a shame I guess; some of the stuff in it was surprisingly decent. For /lit/ posters I mean.

If you want to have serious discussions about wrting and literature, there are countless sites you can go to -- or better yet, go to readings or good schools in NYC, LA, SF, DC, Iowa City, Boston, Austin, etc. and meet people in the real world who are actually involved in literature, publishing, and writing. Even if you're just a teenage boy sitting in your mom's basement, if you go to a site like The Millions , you can read intelligent commentary and comment yourself.
