Fresh off the boat, from reddit, kid? heh I remember when I was just like you. Braindead. Lemme give you a tip so you can make it in this cyber sanctuary: never make jokes like that. You got no reputation here, you got no name, you got jackshit here. It's survival of the fittest and you ain't gonna survive long on 4chan by saying stupid jokes that your little hugbox cuntsucking reddit friends would upboat. None of that here. You don't upboat. You don't downboat. This ain't reddit, kid. This is 4chan. We have REAL intellectual discussion, something I don't think you're all that familiar with. You don't like it, you can hit the bricks on over to imgur, you daily show watching son of a bitch. I hope you don't tho. I hope you stay here and learn our ways. Things are different here, unlike any other place that the light of internet pop culture reaches. You can be anything here. Me ? heh, I'm a judge.. this place.... this place has a lot to offer... heh you'll see, kid . . . that is if you can handle it...

Calibre is great
The interface is a bit "old", design isn't obviously the main guy's strength

It excels in a) keeping your collection in one place with a logical structure
b) converting between formats
c) interacting with your ebook reader

It does not excel in
a) backing up your notes (it does not back up my Kindle clippings, always saying "This book is already in the library, want to add a duplicate?"
b) being not annoying ("there's another update! and another! weeee")

Highly recommended for a free program made by one guy

Hi BookBro, fantastic thread. Could you upload some poetry collections in pub/azw3 format? Anthologies are good too but I'm especially after good editions of specific works. That Penguin Spenser collection in your OP is the kind of thing I'm looking for.

Whatever you've got would be great though, I'd be very grateful (as I'm sure others would too - those great /lit/ collections on mediafire and other sharethreads are always lacking in poetry, especially in non-pdf format).

There's no need to confirm. Just try it out for yourself.

You can set some preferences from the "settings" and then starting it from there, or rather launch it directly by clicking on the "Connect/Share" button of the main toolbar. By default, at least on my machine, it is started on the port 8080.

Ah, and if any one of you is interested in setting up a Calibre-server, they should know that it is possible to filter those books belonging to a certain user-defined virtual-library. That is, even if I haven't still tried it, it may useful if you want to show only those books which you have a copy to distribute of; if no virtual-library is applied, then all the books will be exposed, comprised those of which you, presumably, have no copy.

I suggest you to search it on the Web however.
I'm blindly linking you a Web page describing it; I don't even have read it: http://anoved.net/2012/01/calibre-content-server/..

If the whole /lit/ adopted the habit of sharing books through this method, then it would be painless to freely distribute them among the community. There may also be other ways though.

Well, enjoy.
