I believe the majority of /r/book folk are between 12 and 25 at the most, with the majority of those still in high school.

Are their choices entry-tier? Yes, but that's because most of them are at that age/stage of their life.

I'm not sticking-up for them because they are giant circlejerks, but at least they're reading and they're starting somewhere. There's a reason why "entry" is in "entry-level tier."

Are people on /lit/ pretending they never went through a phase of reading those literature choices? I bet most of you have them on your shelves right now, even if you haven't read them in years.

I grew up in Flitwick, Bedfordshire. Went to Redborne Upper. It's a pretty decent school, I guess, but the English department there was...lacking. I remember my teacher saying how his favourite book was Great Gatsby or something. Definitely by Fitzgerald.
