Where do I start with him?

If I were to read only one of his books, what should it be?

they weren't very well received though. poorly fleshed out egoist philosophies. basically the magical ayn rand

I haven't read anything by him, but all the reviews seem to suggest that Umbrella is his masterpiece (so far?)

Ulysses by James Joyce
Tropic of Cancer by Henry Miller

Then you read the rest of those authors' major works, buy a copy of Umbrella, read the first two pages, and throw it into the nearest bin.

He's a critically acclaimed author and any rancor directed towards him here seems to come primarily from /pol/-tards who have raging hardons for crypto-Nazis like Peter Hitchens. I haven't read any of his books, but I will say that I enjoy what I've seen of him on YouTube.
