Uh, no. I've seen a few people here say this but it's false. He mentions reading Pynchon in E Unibus Pluram and at least one interview (can't remember which). I believe he said something to the effect that Infinite Jest wasn't influenced by Pynchon because by the time he wrote it he hadn't read any Pynchon in many years.
