You're idiots. Perhaps it is precisely because he identifies with the French language that he is saying that. Be in your homeland surrounded by people talking a different language, using different words and you'll feel like a foreign, much more than if you were at the other side of the globe and understanding the people around you. Also, you could say your language is not just "French" or "English", but also the way you have learned to talk with your parents, with the friends of same social condition, and so on. There are so many levels in which this quote works and here you are bitching.
