So I have to read this book for school, and so far it's pretty freaking bad. Does it pick up or is it always this boring?

It is a very good novel. Just read it for what it is and try to curb you edginess.

Yeah what to heck opie. It's a very good book

This is one of my favorite novels.

What do you look for in a novel? If you're not interested in relationships and psychology in your novels, then you're not going to like this book. But if you do, I'd advise that you pay close attention to, think about, the similarities between all the characters and their varied conditions. That's the key to this novel. Don't mistake the simplicity of the prose for the novel being simple.

The film based on this book (Midnight Cowboy) is likewise excellent.

1. Midnight Cowboy is trash
2. Not based off this book

Worst taste on /lit/ right now?

>> No.6849468

>>6849460

No that's me. I haven't even heard of this book and it sounds boring based on what >>6849368 said. I don't like books about "psychology" because they're boring, and I never understand them. I don't even understand the psychology and emotions of people IRL. Not autism, but really bad with people.

it's a book about people struggling to connect with each other. the little girl i forget her name wants so badly to make good music and express herself but she sucks at it

loved it

Then you can't be judged as having worse taste than OP. If you say you strongly dislike an even better book, however, then you may make the grade.

Well, pretty much every "classic" I've read was boring. For example, I expected Crime and Punishment to be a cool mindgame between the criminal and detective, but instead it was just a bunch of talking and doing nothing. Death Note was seriously more interesting than that.

Is that bad enough taste for you?

Do you have any interest in 20th century American life? You can't answer "yes" and keep your terrible opinion on this novel simultaneously.
