Chomsky NEVER supported or endorsed the Khmer Rouge. His argument was simply that the only mainstream publication source for the Khmer Rouge's genocide didn't seem particularly reliable or objective. Based off previous incidents of the media lying or misleading the public, this suspicion was hardly unjustified.

Once irrefutable evidence surfaced that the Khmer Rouge did, indeed, commit genocide, he of course denounced them and their atrocities just like he's denounced any other atrocity ever committed in recent years.
