i always suggest Discipline and Punish, but Madness and Civilization is a good start too.

Start with Althusser's ISA essay and Barthes' Mythologies.

Then immediately pick up Madness and Civ.

I started with History of sexuality but that is because I wanted to learn about biopower. Discipline and punish is a nice read too. I would recommend the collection power/knowledge it has some good pieces straight from Foucault's mouth where he really explains how his mind works

Awesome. Just ordered Madness, Birth of the Clinic, and Power/Knowledge.

Sounds good. I'd recommend checking out hubski.com. The discussion is actually pretty good there.

Don't bother.

He was a worthless and degenerate philosopher.

You don't.

Frustrated man who was constantly reinterpreting history to fit his own emotional desires

I swear to god this is one person who has never read Foucault that posts this. Foucault made extensive argument against repression of homosexual identity in society. Read before you post
