Alright, I have read all the books of the Malazan world, and I have yet to meet another person who has read this series. I need to talk about it, so let's get a Malazan thread going.

OP here, recently reread Midnight Tides, and I'm of the opinion that, next to Memories of Ice, it is one of the best books in the series. I absolutely love the the social/historical/political commentary throughout the novel, especially concerning Lether.

I still don't understand why Tavore marched the Bonehunters through the desert in the last book.

It served no purpose other then to make her lose and weaken a large part of her force. It wasn't a shortcut since the Letheri arrived before her despite going to the long way around.

Also I disliked how Erikson would start storylines and then abandon them like it was nothing. We never found out what happened to Felsin the Younger.

I read the first book. It kind of felt like it wasn't a real story at all, like it was written purely for the sake of the world building (which is impressive, I'll admit), because he has some ebin gods v gods story he really wants to write at some point.
