Ima just make up a bunch on the fly.
The Corridor of Pentimenti -- the story of a painter who develops serious anti-religious rages and begins to paint over famous icons and portraits
Carmina the Mute --The story of a musician who communicates with his autistic daughter through music, but does so a little too well and ends up trapping her in a piece of music she finds so fascinating that it ends up destroying her will to communicate
The God of Phantom Limbs -- the epic, fragmented tale of a schizophrenic person's hundred imaginary friends and sub-personalities, ultimately conspiring to A) murder or B) make love to each other, and finding it for obvious reasons impossible
Barbed-Wire Crown -- the last free-roaming tribe of native americans is trying to survive in modern-day Montana between enormous pieces of empty land kept from them by barbed wire fences by white people with shotguns and various pieces of paper, slowly starving or succumbing to alcoholism and various menial diseases one by one, until they reach Medicine Mountain in Wyoming and do something drastic which I can't be fucked to come up with for free right now

I'm working on an actual novel, which has a title so good I'm sure as fuck not gonna leave it here for you fags to steal.

>> No.6814021

>>6814011
o, the joke of barbed-wire crown is of course that the white people behind their fences are starving spiritually, becoming more and more blind to the elemental humanity they have been given, while the indians starve literally. At some point one of them gets drunk and starts parodying jesus, wandering around with a crown of barbed wire and daring white people to crucify him, or at least have the decency to shoot him in a proper christian fashion.
...shit this is actually fun to do

Fuck it, I'll do a couple more, for the creative exercise.

Silver on the waves -- a man who has murdered his wife is fleeing across the ocean in his boat. It remains unclear, throughout, whether any coastguard/military/police boats are actually following him. He is hit by a heavy storm and survives only by plugging up the hull of his boat with various clothes and corks from his ration of wine bottles - the man is a drinker - but only after his GPS equipment and maps are largely destroyed by the water. Lost in the middle of the ocean, he now begins to long for the very retribution he set out to flee. He watches his reflection in the water grow haggard and ends up drowning himself out of sheer loneliness, and sublimated guilt.

doesn't really have any meat, it may be perfect thematically but it's a cliche image that sets me up for a cliche story
>>6808772
i skipped over this initially because it felt uninspired, but the implications of that death would be interesting, so though it isn't immediately attractive, it's still intriguing
>>6808903
turned me off because the only thing revolutionary about saying there are two sides of one whole is saying it about a whole that is so diverse it cannot possibly be halved. you can probably find a better title, with more meaning and immediate appeal
>>6809190
i would read any of these independently, but the compound nature and the wealth of punctuation makes it seem really over-wrought and disjointed. The Big Gloom especially, i feel, would make a good title
>>6809413
generally "retrospective" is implied somewhere other than the title, so that part just seems indulgent. i'm left hoping this is more than just a strange historical fiction piece over the invention of the third rail. even if it isn't, what would the title tell me? that it's magnificent? it damn well better be, if i'm reading a book about it. you're wasting an opportunity

>>6810765

the title certainly makes sense with the content, but i feel like it should be doing something more than just making sense. i'd also warn you against using other languages for titles when it isn't defensible
>>6810981
i can eke out something meaningful here, it plays with the idea of infinity and divinity, i'm just not confident that it translates well to the content of the novel. this seems like the type of title that works independently but not in the broader context of the work
