What's released of his exegesis is a tl;dr though. It's like 10% of what he wrote on it.

PKD imo is the coolest author that ever lived. Not necessarily the best at writing in any specific way, but he's the coolest. And his exegesis is part of this. VALIS is my favorite book ever written.

VALIS fucked me up, yall

can confirm that it does this.

it's exactly why it's my favorite book. never read anything else that accomplishes this and does it with other people as well somewhat consistently.

valis is literally 10/10
and most other pkd books are 6-7/10 at best for me

>> No.6787868

I'm surprised about the things he managed to weave into his many, many narratives. However, it pretty much boils down to a paranoid schizophrenic wish-fulfillment of being a persecuted minority (as if the Christians ever were) in a demon haunted world.

But there is no majority/minority dichotomy that matters if you're trapped in the black iron prison. You're trapped and that's it. To see the palm tree garden instead is good. And that ties into his idea of Christianity: the ability to see beyond the prison and the illusion of change, allowing you to live a real life and enact real change.

What books should I get by him besides the top popular ones?

>> No.6788006

His books listed by popularity are pretty close to his list by quality, just read most popular -> least popular.

the VALIS trilogy is interesting for his less popular stuff, and VALIS is probably his best piece out of all of his work.
