Anyone else here see the similiarities in tone with Attack On Titan and The Plague?

I haven't caught up with the whole series yet, and I realize this is a manga / anime, but I see a lot of that book in the writing and the atmosphere presented by this story.

Maybe I'm just underthinking / overthinking, but I was just wondering if anyone else who was also a bookfag / weaboo hybrid thought this

Japanese anime consistently draws western literary references, as well as eastern. That is why I love the genre.

Yay, me too. I often wonder if this is a sort of post-colonial mentality thanks to the shock of WWII and Western world hegemony, or if it is merely an interest in the "foreign." It is more rare to see the same sorts of influence in Western literature of Asian and Eastern influences

Though the ones that do, I should say, I also enjoy very much
