>always thinking up new ideas for stories and such
>whenever I'm away from a computer or notebook, such as on the bus home or something, I always go through expanding characters and plot and sometimes reciting in my head a specific scene as it would be described in the novel
>after going through all this and I think I'm ready I finally get to the keyboard
>"Hell yeah, time to start writing"

>mind goes blank
>force myself to write something, turns out bland as shit
>"oh well, I'll try again tomorrow"
>by the next day I've already thought up a new plot and work on that
>rinse and repeat, ad infitium
Help, how do I rip myself out of this vicious cycle?

Write on your phone or carry a small notebook.

start writing smaller stories, or just scenes from stories without trying to make it whole until you're better at writing.

Write the scene that you like and forget about context or explaining the characters if it's not meant to be at the beginning of a book.
