The book is fairly disgusting but it's all very well written.
But it goes out of its way to be disgusting and today it's not that special but if you think about when it was written it makes it more impressive.

It's a interesting book, especially if you are into the whole thing of drugs and being alternative but it isn't one of my favorites, I'm glad that I read it but nothing I really think about unless it's mentioned.

Spot on. Dick has this thing where you can tell he's writing for money, and he's doing it fast, so you go in sort of expecting a quick and easy ride that you can toss off...

...but then he does something like Valis and it touches this weird part of you that pulls all of the genre scifi bullshit into a new and uncomfortable network of events and information that you didn't think was there. Looking back, Valis makes almost no sense: but that's probably the point.

I think it really goes to show that great men are not always secure in their love lives. It's the literal embodiment of the argument that you can conquer the world, but not a woman's heart. Some people just can't be won.

"I want a man who is powerful, who takes control, not a love struck boy of twenty clumsy years."

People on Imdb liked it so it must be bad, right?

I personally liked it; it was an entertaining solid adventure movie, kinda homage to 2001, etc. Some parts feel a bit dumb though, like "science for dummies" stuff ("What is a circle in three dimensions?"), Anne Hathaway's speech about "HURRR What if love is like gravity". A lot of people seem to dislike the ending, but I don't know what they expected from a Nolan movie.

Nonetheless people saying it's a 10/10 are exhausting, and their efforts and arguments, cringeworthy.

tl;dr It's a fun watch but fans are annoying like they always are.

1) Weak plot. Guy goes from dust eating farmer to magic spaceman because he's the chosen one or some shit. They're spending billions of dollars on ships that go who the fuck knows where instead of on researching technology that might fix their atmospheric problems. Let's send people instead of probes to these planets because people are more neutral than robots. Also, magic spooky ghost father in the girl's room.

2) Weak characters. Nobody really behaves in a way that makes sense for what they're supposed to be. The scientists and astronauts have no discipline and are dramatic cunts. The MC is all obsessed with his daughter but pretends his son doesn't exist which is awkward asf. The robot is comic relief instead of a functional tool. Oh and we have to have a theme of romance on this space cruise or else people won't be able to enjoy the movie. Anne Hathaway's entire performance was cringy.

3) TERRIBLE science. Science fiction can be pulled off well in film, but Interstellar is an example of not consulting anyone with any basic scientific understanding. They fucking enter the event horizon of a black hole(that light cannot escape), and instead of being pulled and compressed into a single point by immense amounts of gravitational force, they enter some magic contradictive timeland of secrets that made it so they were the ones who contacted themselves in the past or something and were also able to leave the event horizon. All suspension of disbelief lost, this is where the film became absolute utter shit with no hope of ever being good.
