Who is the quintessential Reddit-tier philosopher?

Searle or Rawls

Probably Rawls. Or Searle's really good too. Just take both of their worst ideas and put them together

Alain de Botton or any other pop-philosopher who just dilutes other peoples ideas for money.

Jürgen Habermas was reddit before reddit was a thing. I doubt many on this site know about him though.

He's alright for a philosophy holiday. You get a different but common view of philosophers, and like zazen meditation, thinking of little to nothing helps getting the thoughts flowing.

He seemed reasonable from what I've read. His public sphere theory was interesting, too bad it turned out to be something else than what it was intended for.

"This site" obviously meant reddit.com.

Habermas represents in my eyes the bridge or tipping point that made the "engaged intellectuals" go from marxism (which has some -few- merits and I'm lolbertarian) to the current feel-good welfarism-tolerance-equality ("cultural marxism").

Habermas takes discourse ethics up in a ‘deliberative democracy’ in which all social and economic questions are debated in a public sphere so that agreement can be reached upon a political solution, within the limits of the existing legal and constitutional structure.

If you have read a single page of Carl Schmitt or even Joseph de Maistre, you know why it is simply a denial of political life, even though Habermas, as the you redditor he is, wants every economic decision to be refered to the state.

This tbh. We're obsessed with tumblr and reddit like a strange inversion of funnyjunk's admiration for us.Not to mention /r/atheism is to reddit as /b/ is to 4chan.
